The founder of Heartbeats of the World is Dr. Karlene ChinQuee, who was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and attended Ardenne High School for the first two years before leaving for the United States. Dr. ChinQuee is a board certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist.

Dr. ChinQuee has been awarded the 2008 Ellis Island Medal of Honor, which recognizes distinguished Americans from various ethnic backgrounds who made significant contributions to our national heritage. The list of past recipients includes Presidents Reagan, Ford, Clinton and George H.W. Bush, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, General Norman Schwarzkopf, Muhammad Ali, Joe DiMaggio, Barbara Walters, Donald Trump and Lee Iacocca.
In 2009 Dr. ChinQuee received the Shining Star Award from the Lenox Hill Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology for her leadership of Heartbeats of the World. In 2010, Dr. ChinQuee received the Vice Chancellor’s Award from the Foundation for the University of the West Indies for her leadership of Heartbeats of the World.
