Our Needs

Heartbeats’ immediate needs are for funds to employ:

    • Four part time teachers for the Spring Bank and Boston Training Centers
    • One guidance and placement counselor whose primary assignment will be to locate employment opportunities and places near those jobs where our graduates can live. Work is generally hard to find in the areas in which our schools are located.
    • One assistant for Stephney Kirkpatrick
    • One administrative assistant

In addition, Heartbeats needs to acquire the following items to be used at the Spring Bank lab for practical services training, including (i) housekeeping, (ii) food preparation, and (iii) early childhood training for nannies.

• Deep Freezer
• Industrial Stove
• Stainless Steel Pots and Pans
• Industrial blender
• Stainless Steel Cutting Table

• Detecto food scale
• Two makeup beds
• Dresser
• Night table
• Linens

For its agricultural training program, Heartbeats needs:

• Lawn mower
• Weed whacker
• Shears (3)
• Machetes (3)
• Power saw
• Gardening forks (3)
• Pickaxes (3)

Funds Required

The above, and other needs, will require the expenditure of approximately $85,000 in 2008. Contributions may be sent to Heartbeats of the World, 880 Fifth Avenue, New York, New York 10021.
